This collection by Sober draws its inspiration from the borderlines of the city, and the people who move along these borders, constantly seeking out limits. They challenge the harsh elements of Northern Europe in order to map out new adventures along the street tiles. They decide on the growth of the city and control who will be able to access it and who will be shunned. They are protectors of the city, a kind of angels.
Their quests don’t end in big crosses that mark the location of some old treasure, instead they are always examining new kinds of gems. When the unpredictable seasons nevertheless summon up a stint of mildness, these people can be found silently enjoying themselves in the peripheries. Always keeping an eye on what’s changing, always watching over the people that they feel responsible for. They avoid intervening directly and whenever possible will opt for stimulating the public in certain directions.

It used to be, one had to cope with whatever managed to find you; heavy overcoats and a fine, silk blouse, inherited from grandmother. The avid collector’s mixture, not to underestimate. Details and cut were perfect. Small decorations and an often rigid fit were still innovative, and timeless to top. This was a real shirt, the kind still too rarely seen by women in those days.
This lady, her situation and endeavor, is what our AW collection is all about. A fine balance between details and silhouettes of the past, combined with today’s streamed lines.
Wool, cotton and silk make sure this season’s choice of fabrics retains a nostalgic feeling, whereas we strive to innovate by means of colors and combinations.

The Sober philosophy combines workmanship, attention to details, and a sincere devotion to high quality. Sober approaches its Dutch origin and the Calvinistic spirit as a source of inspiration for shape, color and mood, and translates this into small, refined collections.
The sense of something subdued is seen as an aspect of enrichment. While the collections represent quality and style, they are also designed to be useful. In essence, clothing by Sober is subtle and elegant, and simultaneously represents modern luxury.
Studio Sober is the overarching organization under which we find Sober, the brand. The philosophy behind the company Studio Sober is to employ the brand in order to create, produce, sell and communicate using a clear concept, good quality and an attractive price.
“Not only the clothing itself, but also the style of photography and the means for dialogue between label and customer subscribe to this philosophy.”
As such, the high quality clothing and the stylish yet timeless collection ensure that Sober is a compelling option for women who love both fashion and quality.

The Spring Summer 2012 collection contains rich cotton and silks fabrics that give the garments a perfect summer feel.
The style of Sober finds its inspiration in the deeply rooted Dutch Calvinistic culture. It translates into modest designs with an apparently simple, but perfect tailoring. Passion for crafts and eye for detail characterize the quality of each piece. Ample fabrics and inventive details turn the pieces into a mature and elegant product.
For the Spring Summer 2012 collection, Sober is inspired by the work of the American painter Rothko. Sober translates Rothko’s colours and shapes into silhouette, fit and colours of her garments. This collection is an unwritten world for Sober. Colour and cut play an apparent role.
Geometric lines flow into the subtleness from the past; the garments are designed to amplify the elegance of the female body. The balance between nature and technology is reached within each garment.
